![]() In the last decade Pepsi has invested heavily into the marketing of Mountain Dew products, helping secure 80% of citrus flavored soft drink sales in the United States, toppling rivals such as Vault, Mello Yello and Sun Drop. Spanning more than sixty years, Mountain Dew’s life has seen its share of ups and downs while undergoing several changes over the decades. While taste (and caffeine) plays a major role in my affection for Mountain Dew, a considerable amount of credit for the brand’s resurgence has to do with promotions, particularly in the realm of social marketing, community oriented interactions and sponsorship investments. Mine comes in the form of an irresistible citrus-lemon flavored soft drink known as Mountain Dew (just check out Ignite’s recycling bin and you’ll quickly see the depths of my vice). On the packaging, there's a reference to the past three VooDEW flavors in the form of tombstones marked (2019) I, (2020) II, and (2021) III.We’ve all got our vices, some more than others, for better or worse.VooDEWgrim has been inactive since 2021 and is now back in action for 2022. There's a Twitter account named " VooDewGrim," endorsed by the official Mountain Dew Twitter account.This flavor was the sixth Halloween-themed flavor to release, the first being Pitch Black (2004), the second being Pitch Black II (2005), the third being VooDEW (2019), the fourth being VooDEW (2020) the fifth being VooDEW (2021), the seventh being VooDEW (2023), and the eighth being VooDEW (2024).It was officially released in stores on September 5th, 2022 throughout the United States for a limited time in 12-packs, 7.5-ounce mini cans 8-packs (Amazon exclusive), and 20-ounce bottles until October 31st, the end of Halloween 2022, where after that, VooDEW (2023) would be succeeding it in 2023. ![]() ![]() In addition, VooDEW (2022)'s can design was recently leaked on the Dew Drinker Discord, then later on a r/MountainDew Reddit post. These bottles have a more orange design compared to the previous pink design. In Early-to-Mid 2022, some test bottles were seen on some websites. On November 2nd, 2021, in a now-deleted r/MountainDew Reddit post, a user posted images of two Dew flavors featuring VooDEW (2022) alongside its Zero Sugar variant with a canceled Mountain Dew Energy (Dragonfruit Charge), the latter at the time known as "Rise Energy (Dragonfruit Lime)." On October 31st, 2022, VooDewGrim, endorsed by the official Mountain Dew Twitter account, unveiled VooDEW's 2022 Mystery Flavor to be Sour Candy Flavor. Once you unscramble the text, it reveals to be Sour Candy Flavor. One clue is from the VooDewGrim Twitter account posted a photograph of themself on a table holding a sign, signifying they are a big fan of Fran Casy Dolvuro. A Sour Patch Kid can initiate burning as the "candle of the pumpkin." When it was first released, some fans found a fascinating discovery where when you zoom into a pumpkin in the cemetery. Since this VooDEW flavor was a Mystery Flavor, many people who have tried it have drawn comparisons to some slightly sour candy or other various types of candy. VooDEW (2022) was a Mystery Flavor of Mountain Dew and had a white look with a similar theme to Mountain Dew's other Halloween flavors.
